TOP 5 natural sites

1: The Cave of the Demoiselles

2: The Navacelles Circus

3: The Mount Aigoual
Set against a backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, the Pyrenees and Mount Blanc, Mount Aigoual, from the top of its 1,567m, overlooks the Cevennes, offering a view of a quarter of France on a clear day!
Mount Aigoual holds the record for the highest waterfall and has the privilege of “sharing the waters” between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean. It protects us from the cold currents of the north and allows us to savour the delights of the Mediterranean, as well as offering skiing in winter, mountain biking and beautiful walks in the shade of the Faillards

From April to October, thanks to the presence of a Weather France station (the last year-round mountain station in France), we are lucky enough to be able to visit the excellent little weather museum. It’s free to visit and there are some wonderful photos of the Cevennes

4: The river “La Vis” and the waterfall at Saint Laurent le Minier
The river “La Vis”, world-famous in the fishing world, is considered to be one of the most beautiful rivers in France
It is the river that gave birth to the Navacelles Circus, separating the Larzac and Blandas limestone highlands. With 60km of lassets, one of its waterfalls stands out in particular: that of Saint Laurent le Minier! Magnificent and impressive, it’s very popular with young people, so it’s well worth a visit – and even better, a swim!

5: The Abyss of Bramabiau
The Abyss of Bramabiau is where the Happiness River finally reaches the surface after many kilometres underground. Discovered in 1884 by Edouard-Alfred Martel, the father of modern speleology, it officially marks the beginning of French speleology
This resurgence is impressive because of the gap in its diaclase (70m high), and deserves a superb expedition through the Cevennes to discover it
