Fancy Hiking?
The Causses, Cevennes and Garrigue represent more than 3,000 km of waymarked footpaths covering a wide variety of geological zones (limestone, sandstone, schist, granite) and the landscapes you cross on your hikes are extremely varied: forests of beech, fir and spruce at higher altitudes, steep gorges of the Dourbie, Jonte or Trevezel rivers, the enigmatic underground river of the Bonheur (Abîme de Bramabiau) or the Vis (Moulin de Lafoux), the mysterious plateaux of the Causses, the gentle, fragrant Garrigues!
Whatever the season, the diversity of these walks makes them enjoyable, allowing you to explore the magnificent landscapes and discover the architecture typical of the Cevennes (hamlets, silkworm nurseries) or the Causses (Caussenard farms), admire the magnificent viewpoints or enjoy a soothing, refreshing stream…
Scheduled hikes and Hiking meetings
Scheduled hikes and Hiking meetings
In spring and autumn, as part of the “Hiking Festival in the Cevennes” organised by FIRA, we offer a 10km walk starting from the campsite. The programme includes homemade jams and fruit juices, writing games, readings, barbecues and wild salads 🙂 The combination of writing and walking is an interesting one
It’s an interesting combination of writing and walking, and we’re already planning other dates (more info ?)
In the summer, every week, we offer a hike or a ‘walking event’ in the surrounding area.
And once or twice, a night walk (depending on the moon) that will leave you with unforgettable memories…

Col de Gourdon (1h):
This short “warm-up” tour, with its short 20′ climb, is a good test for budding walkers and a “challenge” for the youngest; on arrival at the pass, it offers a beautiful view of the Pic d’Anjeau
The “Lacan” tour (3h):
After the first 20 minutes of ascent, this is an easy and pleasant walk that takes you through two pretty villages and, if you wish, you can stop off at the Malharmé family pottery on the way back
The extended “Lacan” tour (4/5h):
As far as Roquedur le Haut for a view of the Arre valley with Le Vigan below.
Or go to St Bresson (6/8h)
Saint Laurent du Minier (4/5h):
As well as passing through Saint Laurent du Minier, with a possible stopover at the village bar (very pleasant in the shade of the hundred-year-old plane trees), this tour includes an extended stopover at the magnificent Vis waterfall – you can even eat at the friendly guinguette overlooking it!
The extended Mont Méjean towards Sumène and the Ranc de Bane (5/6h):
After climbing the Col de Serre, take a signposted “short hike” down into the Rieutord valley
Along the way, you can stop off at Combe Chaude, a nature reserve with an interpretation trail. For a while, you can follow the old railway line that used to link Nîmes to Tournemire on the Causse. You’ll also need an electric torch as you’ll have to cross a cave!
Mont Méjean (3/4h):
This tour, which follows the GR 60, offers magnificent views of Mont Aigoual, the “full” town of Ganges and the Hérault and Rieutord valleys. It ends with a crossing of the Hérault (not necessarily possible in all seasons!)
It can also be extended by climbing the “Twins” (two identical mountains with the ruins of a chapel on one side and a castle on the other (with an orientation table)
It can also be shortened to cover only the horizontal part of the plateau (very easy with children), but then you have to get in the car (7mm!)
