Milieuzorgsysteem en duurzaam toerisme

We work daily to respect the environment but we are conscious that a large amount of effort remains to be made so that we can leave a beautiful planet for our children.
The camp-site grounds of Isis en Cévennes were set up in 1975 (and then extended in1976 and 1981) on the site of ancient orchards. During the reconstruction of our sites, make sure to leave large open spaces, we chose to leave species remind of the previous use of the sites with fruiting trees for the pleasure of children, birds or even hedgehogs!
The camp-site is bordered by, on the South, great open spaces (mown prairies), on the West by the communal route “of St Julien de la Nef to St Laurent le Minier”, which separates the hill of chestnut trees, on the North by prairies and on the East by a canal and the riverbank of the Hérault which we leave “wild” to encourage the installation of many river bank animals.
The activity of the camp-site has very little effect on the landscape: our buildings are few and are easily dissimulated by a variation of vegetation, even in the winter with the presence of evergreen trees..
For our construction, we favour materials that are local or recyclable: timber, stone, iron.
The vegetal diversity is greater than in a prairie or a verger.
Absolutely no use of pesticides: the ground, and consequently the underground layer, is less polluted than by a classic agricultural exploitation.
The local trees are for the most chosen for their good rooting or their little size that excuses them from draconian pruning.
The shrubs are also left “in liberty” because we give them the space to blossom between the placements.
A great number of trees and open spaces are the privileged sites of the birds that we can see in such a great diversity on the domain and all along the banks of the Hérault. The fauna also profits from the absence of the spilling of toxic products.
This domain, since the antiquity, has had a agricultural vocation because the earth is rich and water abundant.
The treatment of used waters:
The camp-site consumes great quantities of water, which are purified by independent treating systems (septic tanks and spreading fields).
Waste Management :
The manageable waste is collected by the communes’ community.
The recyclable packaging is collected by a mixed union (the Symtoma).
The vegetal and other biodegradables are composted on the domain.
Other than the fact that we are happy to be able to (for a part of the year at least) use to renewable electricity produced by our little hydro electric station, we use more and more frequently the famous economic light bulbs,
We preheat part of the water used in the sanitary installations with solar power; we heat our bar by wood fire (between seasons!)
Socio-cultural and economic impacts :
The economy of our region, industrially gloomy, rests however for a part on tourism; our guests present and future, you will contribute indirectly to this economy through your investments and directly through your purchases or sportive activities both cultural and gastronomic that you practice with the providers premises.
The richness that you bring contribute to bettering the daily quality of life of our fellow citizens; our elected are also willing to preserve and make the most of our little heritage, the landscapes, the hiking trails, the water quality of the rivers.
We do not miss occasions, during wanders, animations for children, the intervention of technicians in the Cévennes National Park or at the reception, to remind you at what point it is essential to respect the “natural” spaces, the fauna, the flora or the water.
We work daily to respect the environment but we are aware that a large amount still needs to be done if we are to leave a beautiful planet for our children.
Tri age and recycling:
Chapter to come, but for now you can also get info from here as to how your plastic bottles become pillows! That’s motivating...
